"Just Chicken" - Chicken Pot Pie

Chicken Pot Pie Ingredients:

3-4 lb chicken, diced into sections or pieces

Butter Cookie Recipe

Pie dough (recipe below)

1/4 cup butter

Pepper and salt

1 cup of whole milk (do not use non-fat milk)

4 cups of chicken stock

8" baking dish or pie pan

Directions:

Preheat your oven to 400 degrees. Place the pieces of chicken in a large pot and add just enough water to cover the top of the chicken. Bring to a boil and then lower the heat to medium-low and slowly boil until the meat is falling apart. While the meat cooks, you can prepare the pie dough and grease the baking dish.

Slice the dough in half and then roll out one half to around 1/8 inch thick. Carefully put the rolled out dough in the bottom of the pan. If there is any over-hanging pie dough, cut it from the edges of the pan and set aside.

Place shredded chicken in the dish and the remaining dough. If possible, layer the chicken and the leftover pie dough. Pour in the milk and evenly distribute with two tbsp of the butter. Sprinkle with pepper and salt to taste.

Next, take the other half of the pie dough and roll into a long 1/4 inch thick rectangle. Dice the remaining two tablespoons of butter into tiny pats and dot along the dough. Fold the pie dough into thirds and roll out. Repeat once more. This will ensure that the butter is blended into the dough. Roll out into a thin circle and cover the top half of the pie. Squeeze the edges together and then slice a hole in the top to allow hot air to escape.

Bake the chicken pot pie in the oven for 35-45 min until the juices bubble and the crust is golden brown.

Pie Dough Ingredients:

2 cups flour
1 tsp salt
1 cup butter, diced into small pieces or shortening
3/4 cup of ice water

Directions:

In a large mixing bowl, mix the flour and salt and then work the butter lightly into the flour using either two forks or a pastry blender. When the flour mixture looks like coarse meal, slowly add the ice water and combine just until the dough can hold together. Don't over mix, or else the dough will get "gummy". Wrap in plastic wrap and chill in the fridge for 60 minutes in order to "rest".

A No-Fail White Fish Recipe for Every Occasion

Adding wild pollock to your dinner is one of the simplest ways to liven up the routine without compromising taste or expediency. There are a million ways that you can prepare it, but unlike other kinds of fish, some of the tastiest ways are also the easiest and least time-consuming! Learning how to prepare a simple dish based around a tasty cut of wild pollock will allow you to put another foolproof recipe into your arsenal. This way, the next time you have some kind of last-minute event, or need to prepare a meal very quickly, you will have a delicious, fresh, Alaskan wild seafood that you can whip up in a second. If you have another white fish like cod, you can simply replace the wild pollock and you will be good to go!

One of the simplest and easiest ways to prepare whitefish is to bake it. Pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, and put the glass baking dish in the oven with no fish in it (this will be explained later). You want to begin by "washing" the fish in lemon. Simply squeeze the juice of a lemon into a dish and rub it all over the fish, so that it covers every corner of the skin and flesh. This technique can help bring out the flavor in any white meats that you are cooking - it even works for chicken and pork!

Easy Peanut Butter Cookie Recipe

Next, you want to lightly coat the wild pollock fillets in butter. To make a very simple, light, clean tasting fish, you can add one or two simple spices - it is best if they are fresh. Put a little bit of parsley, or maybe chop up some green onions, or add a bit of coriander. You can add a little bit of black or white pepper, and the tiniest bit of salt. Now, you want to remove the glass baking dish from the oven - don't forget to use an oven mitt! Put the fish in the dish - you should hear a sizzling, searing sound. The reason you let the dish heat up beforehand is because you want it to be hot so that it seals in the juices. Now put the dish with the wild pollock in it in the oven, and let back for 25 or so minutes.

6 Easy Tips to Define Muscles and Get Cut Abs

These six tips will change your life. In just a few paragraphs you will learn everything you need to know to get cut abs and define your muscles. Ok that's not quite true, but for all the efforts you have made to define muscles on your body and get those cut abs you can keep these six easy tips in mind to take you to the next level. Whether that next level is dropping a few extra pounds or improving your massive body-builder physique is your choice!

So without further ado, the six easy tips to define muscles and get cut abs:

Easy Peanut

1. Keep your cardio and lifting separate. Both cardio and weight training are essential parts of any good routine to define muscles or get cut abs. However, many of us have our designated work out days where we do everything. There are many advantages to doing your intense cardio days on different days than your heavy lifting days. For example, if you are doing heavy leg lifts on Monday wait to do your heavy leg cardio until Tuesday or Wednesday. First of all you will not even be able to get the maximum results out of your already tired legs if you do them on the same day but also keeping them separate will help your body to recover and your muscles to grow even more.

2. Do your cardio in intervals. Adding to changing your cardio habits, one of the best methods for muscle definition and trimming off your fat to show your cut abs is interval training. Exerting near maximum energy for 45-60 seconds and then reverting back to moderate energy for a "rest" period numerous times will burn much more calories than just jogging or doing the elliptical at a near constant rate. So whatever cardio you do, do it in intervals!

3. Keep a log of your workouts. One of the simplest things you can do yet so many of us just do not do it. No matter what weight loss or muscle building program you are on, keep track of your weights, repetitions, and/or times simply so you can better them the next time and keep your routine on track!

4. Cut out the late night snacks. Having the occasional cookie, candy bar, or snack of choice won't ruin your diet. Having those snacks late at night just may though. When you ingest calories late at night - before you sleep for the next eight hours - your body will not burn them off. But if you eat your snacks - and biggest meals - early in the day before you are active you have a much better chance of burning those calories

5. A "boring" healthy diet is best. This is one you know but how much do you abide by it? Stick to foods rich in whole grains, monounsaturated fats, protein, and all the essential vitamins and minerals you need. These include whole grain breads, fish, many nuts, peanut butter, and eggs.

6. Stretch lightly before and hard after. Imagine a cold and a warm rubber band. Which one expands better? Your most intense stretching should be after your workouts while your muscles are still warm. Not only does this aide in your recovery but stretching your muscles after helps them to grow so that they can become more defined! All of your early stretching should be done after you warm up first.

You may have found this article because you want a quick solution to define your muscles and get cut abs. The truth is there are hundreds more pieces of advice and guess what? They all work if you put them to work. Remember you cannot spot reduce fat. The reason you do not have the flat abs and defined muscles you may want is because you need to lower your overall body fat. A total body workout routine is the answer to cutting the fat and showing off your muscles. Engage in a full body workout routine and keep these six pieces of advice in mind along the way!

House Training a Dog - The Simple Guide

Do you believe that house training a dog can be easy? Well, I do. House training dogs is simple and fun WHEN THE DOG TELLS YOU when she wants to go outside to do her business. One of my favorite methods is to teach a dog to ring a bell to go out.

Below I'll teach you the method I use to housetrain my dogs and the dogs of my clients. There are some videos you can watch as well that show how to perform this "trick," but more on that in a second.

Easy Peanut

...Dogs love to play games and learn tricks.

This trick "Ring A Bell To Go Out" gets the dog to do what you want - go outside to do her business - but think it's her idea! To teach your puppy or dog how to ring a bell, follow these simple steps.

*Step 1. Find a bell. Use a light-weight bell. (Don't use a heavy metal cow bell.)
Choose the right size for your dog. (A dachshund needs a smaller bell than a Labrador retriever.)

*Step 2. Hang the bell from a door knob ...in easy reach of the dog's nose. (Remember, nose level is different for Yorkshire Terriers and German Shepherds.)

*Step 3. Every time before you take the puppy out, say "Outside? Do you want to go outside?"
As you go out the door, hold the string so that the dog bumps into the bell and it rings. (If you need to shake the string so the bell rings, shake it.) Repeat for a few days.
This step associates the sound of the bell with a behavior - go outside to do your business.

*Step 4. When the dog is not watching you, place a little peanut butter or soft cheese on the bell.

*Step 5. Wait and watch. Two things might happen ...both of them good!
Some dogs immediately smell the peanut butter, go to the bell, and ring it..
Perfect! Say "Outside?" ...open the door, walk over to the potty area, and say "Go potty." Reward the dog when she potties with praise and a small food treat.

Other dogs need to be encouraged to find the bell.
If that happens to you try this:
Hold the bell close to the dog's nose so the dog smells the peanut butter, licks it, and rings the bell.

(You might have to shake the string tied onto the bell so that the bell makes a couple of rings if the dog's tongue barely moves the bell.)

As the bell rings, in a happy voice say "Outside?" ... open the door, walk over to the potty area, and say "Go potty." While the dog is pottying, softly repeat saying "go potty." Then, Reward the dog with praise and a small food treat.

*Step 6. After the dog easily rings the bell, without your help, ask the dog "Outside?"...and wait by the door until the dog "rings" the bell. Then, take the dog outside to do her business.

This method works on dogs of all ages!

It's easy to forget that senior dogs often need more frequent bathroom trips due to bladder problems.
...But the bell reminds us.

Rescue dogs that have never lived inside a house, quickly learn the difference between "inside" house manners and "outside" house behaviors. Any dog that lives in a house without a doggy door will keep your home accident-free when they learn how to ring a bell.

Plus, house training a dog with a door bell also works great when your dog travels with you on vacation. Just bring the dog's bell with you and tie it on the motel door. ...you won't have to worry about any accidents!

Best Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe

Take advantage of what many call the best chocolate chip cookie recipe. It's easy to make and taste absolutely wonderful.

INGREDIENTS

Butter Cookie Recipe

2 cups all-purpose flour

½ teaspoon baking soda

½ teaspoon salt

¾ cup unsalted butter, melted

1 cup packed brown sugar

1/2 cup white sugar

1-tablespoon vanilla extract

1 egg

1 egg yolk

2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

DIRECTIONS

Here's how to prepare your Best Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe:

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets or line with parchment paper.

Sift together the flour, baking soda and salt; set aside.
In a medium bowl, cream together the melted butter, brown sugar and white sugar until well blended. Beat in the vanilla, egg, and egg yolk until light and creamy. Mix in the sifted ingredients until just blended. Stir in the chocolate chips by hand using a wooden spoon. Drop cookie dough ¼ cup at a time onto the prepared cookie sheets. Cookies should be about 3 inches apart.

Bake for 15 to 17 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the edges are lightly toasted. Cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

For a change you can also try this Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe recipe, which I suppose is almost as good as the above.
Recipe:

* 1 cup (2 sticks) (226 grams) unsalted butter, room temperature

* 1 cup (200 grams) granulated white sugar

* 1 cup (215 grams) firmly packed light brown sugar

* 2 large eggs

* 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

* 3 cups (420 grams) all-purpose flour

* 1-teaspoon baking soda

* ¼ teaspoon salt

* 1 1/2 cups (270 grams) semisweet chocolate chips

Note: Can add 1 cup of toasted and chopped nuts (pecans or walnuts).

Preparation:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper. Set aside.

In the bowl of your electric mixer (or with a hand mixer), cream the butter. Add the white and brown sugars and beat until fluffy (about 2 minutes). Beat in eggs, one at a time, making sure to beat well after each addition. Add the vanilla and beat until incorporated.

In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt. Add the dry ingredients to the egg mixture and beat until incorporated, adding the chocolate chips about half way through mixing. If you find the dough very soft, cover and refrigerate until firm (about 30 minutes).

For large cookies, use about a 2-tablespoon ice cream scoop or with two spoons, drop about 2 tablespoons of dough (35 grams) onto the prepared baking sheets. Bake about 12 - 14 minutes, or until golden brown around the edges. Cool completely on wire rack.

Tasty Grilled Burgers - A Quick and Easy Recipe

Ingredients

3 pounds of lean ground beef 1/2 of a medium potato (shredded) 1/2 of a medium onion (finely chopped) 2 eggs (beaten) 1/2 cup of dried bread crumbs 1 Tablespoon of garlic (minced) 2 teaspoons of seasoned salt Fresh ground black pepper (to taste) 1/4 cup of Worcestershire sauce

Easy Peanut Butter Cookie Recipe

Instructions

Preheat your grill to high. Really give it time for the grate to get as hot as it is going to get so you get a nice sear. Once preheated, lightly oil the grate. Shred the potato with a box cheese grater and add it into a large mixing bowl with the ground beef, minced garlic, black pepper, seasoned salt, and finely chopped onion. Crack the two eggs into another small mixing bowl and beat until the yolks and whites are combined. Add this to the large bowl containing the other ingredients and then add the bread crumbs and Worcestershire sauce. Mix it thoroughly with your hands, but take care not to over-mix as this can toughen the mixture. Just mix it up enough so that the ingredients are combined. Next you want to form 10 equal sized patties. This will come easier for some than others. One trick you can use that may help is to first make balls, which are easier to judge and compare sizes. They can then be flattened into patties. I have also found that burger patty molds can come in handy. Gently place the patties on the grill and cook for approximately 5 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired temperature. Keep the grill lid open so the uncooked top side doesn't begin to cook before it gets the chance to make contact with the grate. Near the end of their cook time, open buns of your choice and put the "inside" part face down on the grill grate, toasting to taste.

Servings: 10 Burgers

Preparation Time: 25-30 Minutes

Peanut Butter Cups - How to Make the Best at Home

Over the years I have tried several different recipes for making peanut butter cups at home. When I was experimenting with this particular treat I made sure that all the recipes varied in ingredients and methods so I could come to an honest conclusion. According to my taste testers and from what I have consumed myself, I am about to share with you the best recipe and method to create this wonderful treat at home. You will want to continue reading after the recipe. I have tried this recipe many, many times and have a few tips to turn out your families new favorite.

Peanut Butter Cups

Easy Peanut Butter Cookie Recipe

1 1/2 cups of peanut butter
1/4 cup of margarine softened
2 cups of icing/powder sugar
1 tsp. of vanilla
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
1/3 parowax beads

Mix the first 4 ingredients together in a mixing bowl. Shape by hand into balls or logs.

In a double boiler, melt the chocolate chips and wax together. Dip the balls, drain and put

onto wax paper to harden the shell.

The following technique tips are what improve the end result.

This is a time consuming treat. I speed things up by making the dipping portion much easier by changing the shape of the 'cups'. I prefer to shape them into balls and flatten them in the palm of my hand to about 1/2 cm. high. They resemble mint patties. Once they are shaped, I place them on wax paper on a cookie sheet. I then put them in the freezer for about 30 minutes. This makes them much easier to dip. The 'mint patty' shape makes them much easier to dip. Place the patty on a fork and just swoop it through the dip. Put them back onto the cookie sheet with wax paper and return to the freezer. Semisweet chocolate chips are not a must. If you prefer a different kind, like milk chocolate, they all work well. The very best that I have tried requires planning. Just after Easter, when the one pound bunnies go on sale for half price, I load up my freezer with about 10 bunnies. This is my favorite chocolate! It only takes about half a bunny to cover all the treats. The brand of peanut butter can affect the results. I got crumbly poor results with lower end brands. The very best I have made were made using Kraft Peanut Butter. Others that have tried this recipe have said that Skippy Peanut Butter gives good results as well.

I hope this recipe and method ends your search for the best peanut butter cups you can make at home. This recipe is a hit at every function I bring a batch too. Special requests and orders are common! You will not regret trying this recipe!

Ground or Minced Chicken can be bought from your butcher, but it is just as easy to by the meat yourself remove the skin and place it in a food processor.

Buying a whole bird and portioning it yourself works out much cheaper than buying the pre-packed portions. When it comes to choosing and preparing your chicken, the more naturally a bird is raised the better it will taste.

There are many types of bird available, Free-Range, Corn-fed (yellow flesh as they have been fed corn)Some have added herbs and flavorings, others are self-basting with either butter or olive oil injected into the flesh this will help to keep the flesh succulent during cooking.

I have put together some easy Chicken Recipes that you can cook with and for your children, I know my kids love Chicken Nuggets and I have found that when they cook their own they really enjoy getting messy, but will never let me buy the store bought ones again. I hope you enjoy my recipes and you will share your favorite family recipes with other visitors.

German Cookies - My Favorite Recipe

This is my all-time favorite German cookie recipe. In Germany, these cookies are known as "Ausstecherle". Usually made at Christmas time, the dough is flexible enough to be used throughout the year, so why limit this delicious treat to just a few weeks out of the year?

At any household supply store or Christmas market, you can buy cookie cutters made of metal or plastic. Available in shapes such as stars, boots, Santa Claus and others, one can cut out figures from the dough. Look for seasonal figures such as rabbits, eggs for Easter, hearts for Valentine day or witches around Halloween and you have in this cookies a great homemade gift idea for holidays all throughout the year.

Easy Peanut Butter Cookie Recipe

This is the recipe for the dough, given to me by no less of an authority on cookies than my mother in law:

Ingredients:

500 grams flour

250 grams butter or margarine

250 grams sugar

2 large eggs

1 tsp rum

one package of vanilla sugar
(if unavailable, use vanilla extract and add slightly more sugar to the dough)

For the decoration:

2 egg yolks, whisked until foamy
colored sugar sprinkles or finely chopped almonds
cookie cutters in the shapes of your choice

1. To make the dough:

Bring the butter or margarine to room temperature to soften it. Cut the butter or margarine into small pieces and place into a mixing bowl. Beat until it is creamy. Add half of the sugar and continue beating. Add the rest of the sugar, eggs, vanilla sugar and rum. Continue beating. Add the flour a little at a time while stirring until a firm dough is formed. Once the dough becomes too firm for the mixer to handle, knead the dough by hand.

2.Directions for the figures (Ausstecherle):

Using rolling pin, roll out the dough to about a half centimeters (a fifth of an inch) thickness. Be sure to flour the surface you'll be working so that the dough doesn't stick.

3.Grease a cookie sheet, you'll be using it very shortly now.
Take a cookie cutter and cut out a figure. Place the cookie onto the baking tin. To prevent the cookies from sticking in the cutter, set a little flour aside in a dish and dip the cutter in flour in between cutting each cookie.

4.To decorate and bake:

Whisk two egg yolks, then brush the figures (Ausstecherle) with them. Decorate the Ausstecherle with coloured sugar sprinkles or finely chopped almonds.
Bake the Ausstecherle for about 15 minutes in a preheated oven at 175°C (350 F) on the middle rack.

This recipe makes enough dough for two or three baking tins (50 to 70 pieces), depending on size of your cookie cutters. The dough can be rekneaded and rolled out again until it's all used up.

They taste their best fresh from the oven! Enjoy this taste any time of the year!
